Explorando A Relação Entre A Memória de Trabalho E A Compreensão da Linguagem Em Indivíduos Com Afasia
Aphasia manifests as a language disorder, usually caused by a brain injury. Since language is a complex function involving multiple cognitive processes, different test batteries are used to assess various aspects of communication and cognition. Correlating the results of these tests can help better understand the interrelationship between different linguistic abilities, enabling the development of more effective and individualized therapeutic strategies. In Brazil, there are few studies in this field. This research aims to investigate the relationship between working memory and language comprehension in individuals with aphasia during the execution of the n-back task and the Test for Reception of Grammar (TROG-2), the latter translated and adapted to Brazilian Portuguese. Additionally, the study explores the correlation between these tasks and the scores generated by the Western Aphasia Battery (WAB) and the Brazilian neuropsychological instrument Neupsilin. The results obtained from three participants with aphasia indicate that it is possible to correlate test accuracy, provided that the collected data are suitable for statistical analysis.
