Competências do Instructional Designer: Uma Análise de Conteúdo A Anúncios de Emprego Com Base No Modelo do Ibstpi
There is a growing recognition of instructional design professionals' role in developing and managing educational and professional training projects, both in Portugal and internationally. Their skills are increasingly valued by companies and educational institutions, particularly those offering distance learning through e-learning and blended learning (b-learning) methods. As technological advances reshape this field, new skill requirements emerge, influencing the various roles these professionals are expected to fulfill. This study aims to identify the skills required of instructional design professionals from the employers’ perspective by analyzing job advertisements. A search conducted on LinkedIn yielded N = 2,938 job postings, from which a sample of N = 340 was examined in depth. The analysis focused on the frequency with which the skills outlined on the International Board of Standards for Training, Performance, and Instruction (IBSTPI) model were referenced. This article presents the initial findings of the study. Our analysis indicates that instructional design professionals work in diverse contexts and must possess a broad skill set to perform their roles effectively. We also assessed the relevance of the IBSTPI model by examining how frequently its competencies were mentioned in job advertisements. These listings reflect employer expectations regarding instructional design professionals' responsibilities while providing insight into the profession and career pathways. The findings of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of the instructional design profession and its evolving identity.
