Design of An Accessibility and Usability Policy For Web Information Systems: A Case Study of The Universidad Del Magdalena

Accessibility and usability are essential for ensuring equitable access to information and web content, regardless of users' disabilities or technical limitations. In Colombia, Law 1712 of 2014 and Resolution 1519 of 2020 establish regulations to ensure public access to information through physical and digital means. However, Universidad del Magdalena lacked an internal framework defining accessibility and usability standards for its information systems and web platforms. To address this gap, a five-stage methodological process was conducted, leading to the development of a Web Accessibility and Usability Policy. This policy provides a structured approach for evaluating web systems and information dissemination mechanisms, fostering compliance with national accessibility regulations and enhancing institutional digital inclusivity.
